Several months ago @developedsuspension released their new 38mm chassis enduro fork. We were excited for the opportunity to review DVO’s Onyx D1 38 fork and see how it compared to their 36mm chassis forks and more importantly, to other enduro forks on the market. The Onyx 38 fork is packed with newness from DVO and we’ll review each of the new technologies, construction and design elements in this video and in the written review on our website.

DVO is such a refreshing company. From the simplicity of the designs to the spare parts available through their website. I'm turning into a big DVO fan

I started with rockshox/fox and had a few Marz too, but since I first started riding DVO back in 2016, I never went back. Once you understand how to set it up, it feels super buttery with solid mid range support. Priced very right too.

It’s nice too see other forks breaking the Fox and Shox monopoly. Just need to see these on complete build kits

Great review
The only thing different from my experience is that i couldn't find a sweet spot nicely balanced beetween plushness and mid stroke support until i add 2 volume reducers. Really makes a magic for me.
Encourage everyone to keep trying with setup as once You find your sweet spot this fork is amazing

I have a Shadowcat and put the Topaz Gen 3 on it with a custom tune. I could not believe how much better the plushness, and traction were. It is so smooth on landings Love DVO. Agree with the below commenter that I'd like to see for factory builds with DVO! Looks like I might need to swap my Fox Fit4 for this.

It's earlier in the dialing process for me, and i'm still bracket testing my 38 D1 SL, but my experience is mirroring this review.

I hate when I get into a trade-off corner and bounce back and forth between support and compliance or some other pair of goals. The balance of opposing goals such as flex and stiffness, support and compliance, etc. is well managed in this fork build and tune.

Haven't had it to Windrock yet though... need to get on that.

I wish they would bring back the Emerald. I have a Dorado on my Patrol and dont think I could go back to single crowns. I have yet to run into an scenario where the Dorado got i the way. The confidence a dual crown gives is incredible. I have heard nothing but great things about the DVO 38.

I wonder how it would feel against the new 3.1 Charger Zeb, the red one?

Interesting. Small bump sensitivity is good? What psi/settings are you using? ( @theloamwolf ) I'm struggling with my new Onyx 38 SL on the small bump/chattery terrain. I'm 180 and also have no volume reducers. The mid and deep-stroke feel and support are incredible. I am coming from a RS Lyric with a Volsprung Smashpot.
Am I expecting too much?

I wanted to try this fork but it has been out of stock for months, so I bought something else.

The sales on the outgoing fox factory forks were pretty hard to beat. 330-600$ for a grip2 factory fork blows the performance to price ratio out of the water.

I've tried to love DVO.... I just can't. Their QC is shite. I had the last Diamond fork. I had to warranty it twice within a year. It came with scars on stanchions and a shim that needed machining. They sent it back without its axle, and the second time without the air chamber cap. Their attitude about the warranty work made me feel like I was on my own to figure it out. I wish I could say this was a one off... But the interwebbs is full of same stories about DVO.

Have you guys ever reviewed the Manitou Mezzer Pro Fork? Not many people seem to ever review it. 37mm stanchions, light and very adjustable.
