Sokolov has such an incredible command of phrasing with the 8th note figures in the left hand, it makes the Gould one even more buzzard and jerky by comparison

Dude somehow took the weight out of the keys. The somehow is hitting them as hard as he could, every time.

Granted, if he played everything like this, I bet MIDI converters love him.

that is why glenn gould is far superior to any other. was his interpretation bad, yes. but it is the fact that he was willing to take a risk in order to show us something new that makes him better than anyone else. i grow tired of hearing the same pieces played the same way they have been for the last three or more centuries. in jazz you hear the same standards played with much variety. no performers play alike in jazz. when will classical performance be an art form rather than a craft?

Why does he plays so fast? it's just so sad the fact that melody itself loses its value when you do that...(in my opinion). Sokolov 😍

I swear to Christ Gould just kinda sucked most of the times, he literally just plays a piece in the opposite manner it's meant to be played for the sake of being different, like here or with the Scriabin sonata 5 or the infamous Brahms 1 concert, like we get it you're original but when're you gonna play music that sounds fucking good

Mozart wrote this to mourn the death of his mum.

Gould, however, played it in a way as if Mozart was celebrating her revival.

I suspect that Gould must've got OCD.
