They are available in different sizes and designs with different suction power capabilities.
A suction cup consists of two parts; the suction cup, which is in direct connection with the product, and the connecting element, a gripping body to which several suction cups are often attached. The suction is usually generated by means of a vacuum generator, also called a vacuum ejector. This is mounted as close as possible to the suction cups. A vacuum generator typically works with compressed air. A venturi tube in the generator creates a vacuum. The vacuum causes the suction cup to stick to the product. The suction cup is completely airtight so that a vacuum is efficiently achieved. As the pressure difference increases, so does the suction power of the suction cup.

The suction force is calculated by multiplying the pressure difference between atmospheric pressure and the pressure inside the cup by the area of the suction cup. The technical article on our website provides a detailed explanation on selecting the correct diameter of the suction cup based on the type of movement it will be doing.

There are different types of suction cups for different applications. For products with a flat or slightly curved surface, flat suction cups are preferred. These suction cups are recommended for universal use and offer good stability due to their flat shape. The flat shape makes them suitable for glass, metal, and cardboard.

This is definitely helpful since I’m trying to make my own suction cups, so thank you!

You mentioned the bellows are useful for foil wrapped food products, is this because they handle uneven surfaces better? If I had a smooth piece of cotton sheeting on a stack which type of suction cup would you recommend for lifting one at a time?

How do I take care of the vacuum pump suction cup. Because mine stopped holding the pressure after a few months, is there some kind of oil or grease that I need to add into the mechanism
