Arc Trooper Echo (CT-1409) of the 501st Legion

It would be hard to make a list of fan favorite clones and not find CT-1409, also known as Echo, at the top of the list.

Voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, Echo made his Clone Wars debut in Season 1 as a member of Domino Squad that also featured Cutup, Droidbait, Hevy and another future 501st member Fives. It was during his time as a cadet where he picked up the nickname “Echo” due to his habit to repeat orders.

Upon graduation he was sent to guard the Rishi Station, a mission where he displayed bravery that led to his induction into the 501st Legion. It was also on this moon where he picked up the signature handprint on his armor. A mark he initially obtained when Captain Rex stamped his hand covered in eels blood on his chest.

He would be promoted to the rank of ARC Trooper along with his close friend Fives after the two led the defense of Kamino as Separatist forces attempted to destroy the cloning facilities in Tipoca City.

It was believed that he died during a mission on Lola Sayu until his voice was shockingly discovered by Captain Rex as a Separatist Transmission in Season 7 which led to his rescue from the Techno Union on Skako Minor.

Echo now serves as a member of Clone Force 99, loaded out with a cybernetic socket for a right arm and a DC-17 blaster in his left hand.

I gotta admit, I miss the handprint on Echo's armor after he joined the Bad Batch but I like the symbolism of him leaving his old life behind and accepting who he is now.

The fact that Fives died before getting to find out that Echo was alive just makes it sadder.

fives is my personal favorite. It's a damn shame what happened to him, he deserved way better. I'm pretty sure that Palpatine had injected him with some kind of psychoactive drug to make him go into a confused state of panic which ultimately led to him being killed by his brothers. If he had been able to adequately explain what he knows, order 66 would have been avoided. If Rex came alone, they could have proved Fives was innocent and plotted a way to secretly and systematically remove the inhibitor chips from all the clones and arrest Palpatine.

I think Echo had the handprint as a memory to cutup who may have been killed by that very same eel

I kind of wish we got a moment with echo when he learns of Fives death.

Seeing as they were not only brothers but best friends compared to his relationship with all the other clones.

He was there with echo in the beginning and was with him in the end.

Even though he was believed to be dead during the escape.

Idk there is a still a chance something will happen in bad batch season 2 to possibly call back to fives for one reason or another.

Like if echo ends up at a planet or even a former battlefield he and fives fought in and he recalls his past in this such area.

But for now we won't know for sure if they will do this but still a chance dave filoni might do this.

My favourite clone. When I watched season 7 to find him alive and then subsequently join the bad batch, I was over the moon. Such a good move

The irony of echo going rogue and not following orders is laughable he went from repeating orders like a droid to soldier of fortune is remarkable

If echo is a arc trooper wouldn’t that technically make him outrank Hunter? Or do arc troopers not get a standard rank. Also I wish they gave him a handprint on his bad batch armor

I honestly didn’t know that he was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, I though that he voiced all the clones except Echo.

There’s a reason the clone wars was the most successful Star Wars has been in quite a while, it’s because despite being clones they were among the most relatable characters in the whole franchise, and the story of each and every one of them was a true tragedy.

I always crack up when I imagine Echo asking a clone (probably fives) to hand stamp his Arc armor with blue color just to also have it on there or that's its imprinted on it somehow.

just a heads up, ARC was not a rank, it was a program within the special operations brigade that allowed members to join legions and be in the program
