"Don't take on more responsibility than you wanna to take on." That is so powerful, but more power to those who oblige by it.

Being a teacher, he’s had hundreds of kids and only teachers will understand that.

As long as he's happy that's all that matters.

Thats exactly what Im doing. I dont need a half a million house. I need peace, quiet, no debts, and happiness.

Exactly! I keep my life as comfortably simplified as possible.

And in doing so, I’m less stressed and less worried about things.

Spot on. Life is what you make of it, he made his simple and that makes him happy. He’s more than right about people and obligation - it’s so sad the number of single-parent kids in my community alone. Kids need two parents. It’s important. But the people having these kids don’t care. 😢

Total respect to the man.. Don't take on responsibility you don't want to take on..💯my father was an alcoholic who got married had me and then abandoned me and my mom when i wad 10. And to all the people who get married and have kids just because they think thats wht they had to do or because of the society or because they don't really care.. seriously marriage and kids are a huge responsibility.if u think u cant handle it then pls don't. Period. Don't become a parent or a partner without being able to shoulder tht kind of responsibility. In tht sense i value the hell out of people who know themselves and are honest abt wht they want in life and what they can and cant do

I Respect a person's choice not wanting kids some people or most people think kids are objects or a pet its sad some people get kids just for their Facebook page

Thats how I'm feeling. You don't need a lot of money to be happy, you just need to live simplistically. Cheap cars, small house, good friends is all you need.

Oh wow, wow… my mind is blown! This man gave me the freedom and validation to stop pressuring myself to believe I have to do this and that and not “miss out” on life if I don’t do them! I’m 32 and every month that goes by I have a mini existential crisis and anxiety that I’m not doing what I should be doing - married, kids, career figured out, thousands of dollars saved for retirement, life figured out. Sure a kid would be nice but I’m more leaning towards no because “we have enough people in the world” is what I believe, and while my main reason for even having a kid would be “I may miss out on what it’s like to be a mom”, it just doesn’t feel strong enough of a reason. And sure maybe I will miss out but oh man, this man validated what I’ve always felt inside - I want a simple life! Thank you! I feel so free now, my whole way of thinking has changed! I won’t want to be working forever into old age, I want to go out and see the world in retirement age, not stressing about what I’ll leave behind and to whom, and wills and estates and assets and who’s getting what. Woo! This is such a game changer. Don’t let people tell you or society pressure you into thinking your life hasn’t started yet cuz you haven’t done this and that by some random age.

The older I get the more I see having a bigger house or a bigger family or better cars and so on is really just keeping you on a wheel where you can’t stop working to keep it all going.

Poor man. I feel so sorry that he never got the joy of being in loving relationship. I used to think like him when I was 18. I can ensure marrying a person who is caring and loving has been the biggest blessing in my life. Married for 17 good years now.

This is the best yet. I 100% agree. I have kept my life simple, and have more net worth than my peers who have the flashy cars, houses & lifestyle. They are constantly stressed by all the debt

That last statement is so true. Don’t have kids, get married, get the mortgage, the job, etc if it’s not really what you want.

I'm 55 and have retired for now (I'll probably start my own business in a couple of years at my leisure just to keep myself busy once I've travelled around a bit & just spent time chilling & enjoying life). I was able to do this because I never married nor had kids (had a few long-term relationships however they ended before marriage or kids happened), and thus never had the huge and back-breaking expenses that marriage & kids demand (big house, exorbitant school fees, expensive family vacations, orthodontists, summer camp fees, etc, etc) nor the subsequent financial devastation that crushing divorce settlements, alimony and child-support brings.

Thus while my married buddies/relatives with kids are either struggling financially to keep it all together or divorced & living in trailers (while simultaniously working their asses off only to then have to give all their money to their ex-wife), I'm financially secure and in a relaxed, positive head-space; I don't regret a thing.

This man is wise as far as speaking on simplicity. People shouldn’t just get married to check off a box. Kudos to him!

Life is about trying. And challenging yourself to be better. To have family is a special experience and can fulfill the soul. Knowing you tried to love and receive love is honourable and always worth it. Makes one proud from the inside out and can’t be beaten. The single man enjoying life, still think that person missed out sorry.
