Excellent, I'm on my way!
I'll give a position in my government to anyone who comes with me!
First person that signs up would be second in command!

If you claimed and developed it you would just end up with one of the countries taking it. The dispute comes from a difference in value. Make the territories similar value and they will settle. It's a trap.

The straight border is the defacto border now, because Sudan is so broken and weak due to a decade+ of civil war. When I was young, the other border was the defacto, due to Sudan being the larger and wealthier of the two at the time.

I'm not claiming there would be no conflicts in the world had the British not been imperialist, but man, how many present-day conflicts can be traced back to their own policies in the 19th and 20th century is unbelievable.

It always starts with the British did this for any minor skirmish or major war in the middle east

The Halayeb Triangle is located in the difference between the two and since the mid-1990s Egypt has had de facto control of the area.
Bir Tawil was grazing land used by the Ababda tribe based near Aswan, and thus was placed under Egyptian administration from Cairo.

Talk about burying the lead! The story of the people who tried to claim it! Now that I want to see!

This isn't the only place where this has happened. There is a border dispute between Serbia and Croatia where some small bits of land are unclaimed by both sides. A Czech man tried to claim the largest piece of this land and start his own country called Liberland.

Egypt uses this area as a buffer zone to insulate from the Sudan chaos.

Why weren't any one of the 4 people successful?

Similar situation in Europe where Croatia and Serbia dispute several small areas on the east bank of the Danube neither will claim as it will mean they would lose their claim to more important areas.

This is on the list of reasons why aliens don't want to talk to us.
