Moonlight Sonata sounds better SLOW (yes, even the third movement 😳)

Am I a con artist? No, just a normal piano teacher. Move along, nothing to see here. Hope you enjoy this tutorial on Beethoven's most famous song.

People tend to forget about pianist's having different potentials. Some can learn it faster, some can learn it slower.
I myself believe that someone can play Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement at full speed after listening to it once. It may be a bit rare for someone to be able to do that but that's just how it is.

"if you wanna play faster just play faster"
if you wanna be a great pianist just be a great pianist

In my opinion, as a pianist for 12 years, the first movement of the moonlight sonata is the hardest, because you can't hide behind fast tempo with hard technical skill that will impress people. The first movement is very slow, very simple, but only a good musician, with understanding of the music itself can play it right.
The fjrst movement is a piece that can make me fall asleep or cry, only depending on the performance itself.
As Beethoven said: "To play wrong notes is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable."

The magic black and white button machine is much to mysterious for mortal men like me. Witches like you who control the sounds should be watched under gaurd of strong wepons and trained guards.

I like how I'm watching this knowing I'm never going to touch a piano in my life

found this piece since the first time I heard it as a child that it had a frustrated soul in it with allot of passion: first movement is slow, simmering, slightly sorrowful but with hidden anger to it, on the second movement I personally interpret it as a false mask of this soul, pretending to be happy when desperation and rage is being stored until it reaches the third movement when the soul explodes and lets go of all that desperation and anger mocking the false mask. For me it tells the story of a sad soul that played pretend until it lashed out so not only the first and third movement are important, everything is since the second movement is the reason for the third to be as passionate as it was. at least thats how I see it ;p

Well thats true. But the thing is that is NOT only repeating the same notes over and over. There are also other parts in 3RD movement which are hard to play.

Thanks a lot! I learned the first part in only a few days.

Just one thing: I feel like you should have specified the keys that you used because

I am a beginner and finding out the keys took the most time for me.

When I was but a little kid, my guitar teacher told me “play it slow and get it right, speed will come naturally once you’re used to it” .. works all the timr (even outside music)

I've watched several of these, and each one has made me think Deadpool has a sideline in giving piano lessons.
