The culture of silence is the norm in the church. There are some Christians that are beyond reproach and they are the Church leaders, especially in Nigeria. A church member can be thrown under the bus, but when the leaders are found wanting, we are supposed to accept their excesses and focus on covering up for them. It is well.

George thank you for your insights. I agree Father figure is very important in d livves of the children but it may not stop such evil from happening. Children with both parents have been raped before.

Rape can happen at anytime and to anyone. Divorce is bad for the children but if you can't stay with a partner, please leave rather than physically abusing them.

What has rape got to do with whether the father and mother are there in the lives of the victims? What is the relevance of the father saying he is divorced from the mum and the children live with their mother? Are we impliedly apportioning blame to the mother for the rape of her daughter?? The pastor simply capitalized on the gullibility of the mother, who appears to me as one of these religious bigots that worship their pastors.

I bet you that some of these manipulative pastors don't even pray that their members would get to know God for themselves. Yes it's simply because they know that once they come to the knowledge of truth, their eyes of understanding would open and they would be liberated...
