It's the holiday season and it's time to automate our home's lighting to be useful, decorative, and fun. This time, we'll be using Govee's new Christmas String Lights to decorate for Halloween, Christmas, and other holidays!

These are some very flexible smart lights for Christmas and Halloween, and they have many use cases because of how they're built. I'll show you how they can be integrated in some DIY Christmas Decorations, some DIY Halloween Decorations, and how you can use them to brighten up the trick or treater's night! So these aren't just Christmas lights, they're the #GoveeHolidayLights we've all been after.

This is the coolest channel I've found in years. I love automations, and I'm so happy I found your channel. I use google routines and Hue automations, and I'm always looking for new ideas. Great content!

Can these lights be connected to each other for long runs of 200 feet or more?

We used to wrap lights around our stair bannister but rhe new cat decised to chew them. I might give the govee ones a go as they seem a bit thicker and more robust than the cheap wire ones we had before

Hey buddy. So I have two Smartthings hubs v3. They have weird unfound stuff in them and other oddities So today I was going to wipe them both and start over... They have been in use for 3 maybe 4 years? I figure clean slate? What do you think and could you suggest an easier approach? I was just going to go and forget everything then factory reset and start again... Ideas? Thank you!

Can you turn off sections of lights?
example: If I have 33 ft set and 11 feet is on on bush, want up to 11 feet up to off, and the next bush is the 3rd 11 feet during Halloween. Why not 2 11 feet? Reuse! 33 feet during the holidays. The clicking triggering sections around 12:15 seems like this wouldn't be an issue.

How is the power consumption compared to "non-smart" LED lights? (maybe with each color lit individually, then a mix (one color each, not a mix on each chip) to approximate regular LED lights?- if you want to be extra thorough)

How is the home assistant integration (is it over wifi? my 'Govee Warm White Outdoor String Lights, 48', H7012 (48ft) & the related 96' (H7013)' only pair with the HA integration that I found over bluetooth, which my Synology lacks, so they are Google Home & Echo/Alexa only, not HomeKit/iPhone/MacOS)? How about matter/HomeKit?

Do they offer local control? (Wink hub burned me on that before I even setup my smart home... Plus cloud based integration means that companies can go out of business or killing a product & server... not that I see Govee becoming insolvent anytime soon. )

Sorry for so many questions- feel free to answer only one (I'd rather that than no answer). Anyone is welcome to answer.

P.S. If anyone knows, how to attach my Synology DS1821+ Home Assistant to my Govee H7012, please share. While I'd be in Bluetooth range of the lights that I'm considering, the NAS is outside of range for the festoon lights. I'm not sure if there is a work around for this. I had a RPi 3, but my wife lost it when we moved and they're too overpriced to consider just to get Govee working with Home Assistant. I have old androids and I plan to add android tablets as control units, , but I don't think they'd be any use. I also have ESP8266 NodeMCU (I believe they have bluetooth) and ESP8266 Wemos D1 Mini (I don't think these have bluetooth)

Ideally, I'd use the Govee WiFi

Did anyone else have a dead Pixel? One light was displaying a different color...

I loved the way Brian said the gift light he made only cost $16, but factor in the cost of the lights and it’s 🤯 so exspensive. I like the effect of the lights, but Xmas decorations in October should be made illegal. Great video, awesome ideas but I couldn’t justify spending that amount of money on basically Xmas lights. You start putting up led lights like this and the energy usage starts to creep up. Here in the UK it is still very expensive for electricity.
I can go one better than Brian and Xmas, happy Easter! 😂🤣😂🤣

Wait.... what Amazon subscription?! Are you just talking about how they want to charge for when Alexa becomes a lot more capable with AI in the future? For whatever reason, I got the idea you meant this is something that's coming between now and Christmas!
