I would add the first aid kit including a rescue blanket that could be very helpful in case of an emergency overnighter or accident

Great tips. I am always bringing my swiss army knife with the small saw included. Priceless!

Nice video! I also bring a small first aid kit. Also you're allowed to bring chocolate that you like. I'm no coffee drinker but I wouldn't turn down some 12 yo single malt "coffee" if offered.

Would add toilet paper in a plastic bag and (depending on your habits) a small spade (yes, that's apparently an English word too! 🤪). Leave no trace! 😉 Great idea with the fire kit - I will steal that one!

I almost agree.. One very important thing missing though.. As one who loves a campfire and doesn't care about weight - at least after my time in the royal guards - i always bring an axe or small hatchet!

Great video though!

Don't know if you've forgotten, but I haven't. I will get the tent to you, but life.. 😅

I bring pretty much the same except for the fire kit, thanks for the idea! What I also bring is a small first aid kit, which I made from an empty can of electrolyte tablets. And a trash bag is always in my daypack, even in my everyday backpack.

The Hilleberg Bivanorak is pretty nice as long as its not too warm outside. It weighs half a kilo, and functions as full body raingear, windbreaker, or a "bivy" that allows you to sit up and cook food or whatever. When used as raingear, it doesnt have as good ventilation as a rain poncho, but still MUCH better than a rain jacket - and it is roomy enough to cover a fairly sizeable backpack too.

Comment Section Expert and official Swede-to-be checking in.

Unfortunately, they don't sell the Abisko tarp in the US. I've been eyeing various Dyneema ones, but they are super pricey. The ones intended for hammock camping have the most versatility with all their tie out points. The tarp I currently have is a 4mx4m one that goes up over a picnic table when car camping; too big for the trails.

Ted, you will be happy to hear I am the proud new owner of a Kajka 75; it has yet to arrive. It's my new winter camping expedition pack. It was such a tough decision between it and a Keb 72, but in the end the front loading of the Kajka won out over the side-zippered Keb. I need full unrestricted access to those big bulky winter items. Singi heater just got 2 coats of wax last night in preparation!

No first aid kit on a dayhike? I bring my standard FAK with me on any hike, just in case.

Great choice of gear! Thats a sweeeet looking pack you got there! 😮 and here it is 🤣: I would replace the fire steel, hammock and the heavy sweater with a bic lighter, light weight puffy jacket, a solid knife and a Laplander saw. First aid is always in a leg pocket, right?😅

I take approximately the same things with the same bag... plus a hydration pack. Thank you for your share!

Nice easy going video Ted.

Phone!

More versatile than a branded small red pocket knife. Take only memories and photos, leave no trace

Thank you Ted! For me, my buff is essential :) Also good reminder about the trash bag. I always forget about it and have to use a couple of dog poop bags.. Take care!

You inspired me to get out again. 🙋🏼‍♂🙏🏻 I am actually also an but now I am considering to change more towards the Lightweight-Group at least for backpack, tent etc. Any thoughts on this topic? Kind regards! 🙂

Depends on where you are and what time of year. All of that layering would be unnecessary where I live in the summer.

Great video. What is missing is the listing of the products you use. Maybe there are same items here in Canada, but I don't know what brand or model to look at.
