Nigel is back and we're talking about why 1/64 scale is different from collecting other scales of diecast. Nigel goes as far as asserting that 1/64 isn't "real" collecting. Do you agree? Hear our live debate and leave your thoughts in the comments.

It’s funny how Nigel said that he might be better off buying 1:12 scale so he can display it, rather buying 1:64s and have them in the box.

As a former 1:18 collector, I had the opposite experience. I downscaled to 1:43 and 1:64 so I can display more cars.

You can only have a few 1:12 scale on display especially if you don’t have a big space. Then, once it’s full, you’ll say, “Damn, I want to collect more, but im out of space”.

Wow! Thanks guys! Thanks for the shout out for the upcoming diecast show. You just might be familiar with the family that is organizing the show. The Zarnock family is making it happen!

Nigel with the controversy! I’m bucking the trend. Collected 1:18 scale through my teens and 20’s. 500+ Ferrari’s on display. 1/64 scale were just toys to me. Not collectors items. I scoffed at these people calling themselves collectors. Had kids, ran out of room, sold off most of the collection. 5 years later I discovered Hot Wheels Premium. I bought a few HW before discovering Kaido House, Mini GT, Inno64, Pop Race etc. The bug was back. 700+ cars in under 12 months but they still take up less space than a quarter of my 1:18 collection. BUT, I’ve never sold a single one unless I accidentally bought one I already had. I buy one and one only for my collection and that’s it. I cannot be bothered buying in order to sell. It’s not my game. I agree with the comments about the hype though. It’s almost Jordan sneakers hype level at times.

Nigel just blew my mind! His observation on 1/64 “collectors” rolling over their cars is spot on!

Interesting topic. As iam contemplating what to do with my 1:64 camaro collection sitting in plastic totes. Having no space to properly display them, I start to question WHY do I keep them? But on the other hand, I have a connection with the memories of finding each of these cars. Hard to part with the memories.

the short relevance is bothering me in a way... I am also more of the school of getting a model i really appreciate and keep it for ever I think if the creators just get the latest just get views while they don't have an emotional connection with the model is kind of shallow in a way

Funny...I consider myself a 1/64 collector as I have around a hundred redlines but I dont chase the latest hype? If I happen to see something on a peg, so be it but im not huntin them!
