Hälsa Dem Därhemma - Swedish - Len Nasman

Hälsa Dem Därhemma is probably the most popular song among Swedish-American immigrants. I remember family gatherings when I was growing up in a Swedish-American family in north western Pennsylvania. My parents, aunts, and uncles always sang this song with great emotion.

As a second generation Swedish American, I apologize to native Swedish speakers for my feeble attempts to sing in Swedish.

I created an English translation with some help from a Swedish friend. I used the Sibelius computer software to create the music for this version. The music was played through a Roland sound module, and recorded and edited using Sound Forge. Except for the starry sea scene and the goose images, the photos are by me, and image editing was done using Paint Shop Pro. Video editing was done using Vegas Pro version 15.

The images of Nils Holgersson riding a goose are from a book by Nobel Prize winning author Selma Lagerlof , and the story of Nils exploring Sweden is know by every Swedish child. Selma was a descendant of Bishop Johannes Rudbeckius, as was Alfred Nobel. Since I claim Johannes Rudbeckius as my 9th great grandfather, Selma and Alfred are cousins of mine.

This brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my father singing this many times. It was sung at his funeral. ❤❤❤

Thanks for uploading this. I'm reading memoirs of my great grandmother Ingrid Katrina Broberg, who emigrated to Minnesota as a teenager in the 1870s. This along with Nikolina were mentioned as songs she taught her kids to play and dance to. It's great to be able to hear what they heard. Thanks again.
