I love this experiment but it has to be perfect.. the temp has to be 0° but not a solid yet so that when you hit it down the crystallisation process begins.

Muthbusters did an episode on this and they found this works with any carbonated beverage (alcoholic or not, even just sparkling water did the trick)… it just needs to be in the right temperature before hitting it

I think it has to be in a plastic bottle so that the shock is more direct. I think the glass is insulating the cold water from the shock.

You need a lot of bottles and when a large fraction are frozen the others are likely supercooled

If it was a glass bottle you might need to switch to plastic so you can hit it harder on the ground. I have done this and found the Fiji in its original plastic bottle works best. Make sure not to freeze to long or else you will get ice shards in the bottle. Good Luck!😊

Sometimes ill punch the popsicles before they're frozen and they'll freeze into a powdersnow like texture, like eating shaved ice

Maybe the bottle/cap you transfered the water to was contaminated. Try it with a smaller unopened bottle of spring water. The conditions have to be absolutely perfect for it to work. Also your freezer might not be as cold as the ones you seen in the video so you might have to leave it in a bit longer.

I found plastic purified water bottles works best - the kind that are non reusable. If you use the glass again, i might think the glass might be instilating it more, so leaving it in for closer to 2 ½ - 3 hours might work better.

I leave mine in the crisper for 2 days and it works!

It doesnt have to be purified, i use diet Coke and it works, it just has to be at the perfect temp. Keep it in longer

Just use unopened bottled waters. Check 1 bottle after 1hr though.

Pretty sure you just have to leave it in there longer. the "2 hours" is just a suggestion. First time i did this accidently (30 years ago or so) i was amazed.
