From experience:

The mantlet is an unreliable place to shoot at, and I have even seen my DM63 penetrate and then do jack sheet (just turn the breech red)

The turret ring and the driver optics are much better places to shoot at if you cannot shoot anywhere else.

Angle of attack also matters: there is a lot of open space in the crew compartment and there is this sweet spot when the turret is facing slightly to their left (your right) about 20-30 so degrees. A turret ring penetration will knock out the driver, gunner, and TC.

When the Abrams crests a hill it is uniquely vulnerable at a particular part of the lower front plate and 430mm+ pen kinetics can go through dead nuts.

for russian or nation have HE shell in top tier, shoot on the commander sight. that will overpressure and guarentee kill. same as Leopard that have big sight for gunner or commander
