Paris Olympics 2024: Men's triathlon delayed over polluted water in River Seine

The men's triathlon has been delayed by Olympic organisers due to unsafe levels of bacteria in the River Seine.

The water quality has fallen after heavy rainfall which dampened the opening ceremony. Sky's Rob Harris has been investigating.

I live in Paris, France, believe me this River is absoluetly not swimmable at all, but the reason why they maintain the competition there is only because they are stubborn and believe this is prestigious. We have other spots muche more suitable nearby... It's so cruel to behave like with the athlets

It is one of the most polluted river in the world.

those poor triathletes. They deserve so much better. Tey have paeked for this day and all this stress and dely is such rubbish literally. How on earth could the french think that "as long as it didnt rain"the seine would be good to go. In what world can that be a sooo unhappy on behalf of those athletes and if swimming is taken out of a triathlon then they should all boycott.

The river was polluted for almost a century, saying 3-4 years they can clean it is like saying we can clean the world's ocean in 20 years max. Timeline is just too short and all pollution sources has not been reduced yet.
