"I cant rule the galaxy if tyranids eat it all" is okay motivation

The silent King is a pretty shy dude when it comes to conversations.🐱

In my mind, it’s kinda like having The Emperor as a model and be playable. Pretty sick to be honest

Technically he is doing much in fact the pariah nexus and currently he is about to face vashtorr after the mechanicus accidentally summon him by using dark age of technology artifacts against the necrons

"Pretty big things..."

That sentence carries enough weight to create a blackhole.

Wait, I thought Szarekh inherited the war in heaven from previous silent-kings? I know he gave the green light for bio transference, but the nectontyr couldn't possibly have started the war-in-heaven, get slammed with a humiliating loss, find the C'tan, build them bodies, and then undergo biotransference within the lifespan of a single necrontyr silent-king. I haven't found a definitive answer on how long they lived, but the mortality of a single necrontyr was less than 100 years, some have placed the lifespan of the necrontyr at 30-40yrs others at around double that. Even with their highly advanced stasis technology, initiating the War, finding the C'tan and bio-transference would have atleast taken centuries and multiple Silent-Kings... right? Unless they were thawing Szarekh out every year for like a month and forcing him to catch up on paperwork.

Strictly speaking Szarekh wasn't exactly responsible for the War in Heaven. He inherited the Necrontyr empire long after their war with the Old Ones had begun (and repeatedly failed, leading to the Old Ones essentially cordoning them off in their own area of the galaxy that they were not able to leave and could only really take shots at each other).

So, facing down the barrel of a civil war that would likely have ended his people, that was when a cosmic trickster spirit offered him super-tech to redirect the Necrontyr frustrations back at the old enemy who still refused to help them with their medical issues. Very reasonable choice.

Desperate people make desperate gambles. And he was responsible about it too - once the Old Ones were defeated he blew up his gods and put their pieces into batteries to make sure that they wouldn't pull that nonsense again.

If the Old Ones behaved with any responsibility towards the species they created none of it would have happened. Same goes for Chaos - if the Old Ones behaved with any responsibility towards their creations, Chaos would not have happened.

It's scary to think that of all the factions in 40k, the Necrons are the only ones who truly have time on their side. Only because they managed to escape its' grasp.

Currently, they are divided by dynasty, and by which leaders want to be King. But Szereck could change all of that and accelerate the awakening process for a truly immortal empire.

The Necrons are even "OP" by 40k standareds, that should tell you something. They're probably the only faction that could absolutely defeat both Chaos and the Tyranids. What they have working against them is their still tiny numbers compared to the other main factions... Barring Tau.

To be entirely fair to the silent king on the war in heaven thing, it wasn’t ENTIRELY his fault. He just wanted to save his people and when the old ones refused his request for aid, the C’tan showed up and said hey we’ll help but you gotta help us to kill the old ones. The Ctan’s actions are as much to blame for that as he is. I feel things would actually potentially be worse too if the necrons hadn’t turned on the C’tan, shattered and imprisoned them.

Well, the war in heaven only technically started post ctan finding and bio transference. The necrontyrs first war with the old ones is kinda seperate

He’s basically the emperor of the Necrons I mean his model literally has a screaming Ctan in it that’s metal AF and he’s one of the most singularly powerful beings in the current setting and oldest as well

In my opinion, I feel that the MTG art doesn't do Szarekh any favors. He just looks even more spindly and weird than Necrons normally do, and the handles (?) on his head just look a little strange.

He is not the one who started the war in heaven, he inherited it

The silent king wasnt responsible for the war in heaven or at least not the start of it. The necrontyr were a very short lived race and the war in heaven had been going for years before he became the silent king.

Asdrubael Vect is the unquestioned leader of his entire race and faction. He's the holder of the title of sole most evil living creature in the universe. A race that feeds on pain and suffering and he is their dark muse.
