This is the emotional moment an 11-year-old boy performed a haka to honour his late great-grandmother.

Zoe Gifkins, 32, from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, captured the moment her son Jahrell broke down in tears as he led the haka in honour of his great-grandmother Ann Tiki.

The heart-breaking scene was captured as Ann Tiki's body was returned home for the first part of her funeral.

His emotions were so overwhelming he had me in tears. Then his heart grew the moment he heard other family members join in with him... even though he was fully willing to send that love, the goodbye, to celebrate her life all on his own. His Nana is so very proud of him and the rest of the family. Sweet boy, young man I should say, you did your Nana proud! 💜

Oh bless him, that’s reduced me to a blubbering mess. I enjoy watching the strength and the passion that Haka displays, but the funeral/tribute ones always make me cry

I love New Zealand for keeping their people focused on what the right values are. We are so blessed for communities that still honor each other this way. May we please do this in our communities right now everywhere. 🙏🏼
