Amazing how the change in weight balance and drag from the release of water pitches the nose down. It must take a lot of skill to pilot those aircraft in low terrain and with pinpoint accuracy.

As a pilot myself learning to crop dust. 99% of that instant nose down pitch is the pilot pushing the stick forward. Typically dropping the water will cause the nose to rise fast, which if not corrected will rip the wings off.

Watching it dump water was amazing. That sort of weight change would require one incredible set of pilots.

I love how the pilot pitches the nose down to counteract the effect of the water being released & the plane raising due to suddenly becoming lighter.!!
It looked awesome.!! 👍 👍 👍

Thats incredible when it shakes forward as the water drops

I envy the water tank. So much legroom, and stowage space for cabin bags. 😊

That plane used to be owned by Southwest Airlines, it was one of the 737-300s. I’ve worked as a ramp agent and then as a flight attendant on that very aircraft before being retired and then sold. I remember when it was shown for the first time under Colsons new ownership and I’ve very thankful that it was one of the few -300s that were saved from being scrapped.

Living in an area where you get to see these almost every summer, it's nice to see inside.

Yeah the pilots for these things are on another level flying a 737 at really low altitude dropping thousands of gallons of waters with pinpoint accuracy over a fire line, just pure skill.

Hats off to the pilots who fly the fire air vehicles. Its incredibly dangerous and selfless and their skillfull actions save many many people and animals and countless acres of forest.

That instant nose down at the start of dumping looks like it would be a heart pounder shheeeesssshhh

Edit: apparently the nose downs on purpose, it noses up on release, looks scary af either way😅

I love how people say barely fit and they still could fit another next to them! Super clean aircraft! “Props” on them for Cleanliness!!!
