Open Arms || EPIC: The Musical || Animatic

Hey hey, so I was into Epic the musical currently for a year, and has been thinking of making an animatic in a while. I started this when the Ocean Saga just come out but the underworld saga already come out when I finished it 😅. There’s a lot of new songs that I want to make, but I want Open Arms to be the first animatic I would make. So here we go! Hope you enjoy! I apologize if there’s so many mistakes in this animatic.

Also my design mostly inspired by Wolfy the witch.

Thank you for the amazing Jorge Rivera-Herrans for starting my obsession, and writing the song. And Steven Dookie I love your voice so much!!

The majority of Open Arms animations is Polites shoving Ody into bodies of water.
It's hilarious and I'm glad that's a headcanon we have collectively agreed upon

Polites makes me feel warm. His voice feels like the gentle sun after a long time of rain or snow. Likewise, it also makes me feel relaxed, like a rain after a drought.

His voice consoles me, and my heart relaxes, as if every burden has been lifted off of me. I like him and if I could, I would protect him with my life to make him live just one more day.

I love how the fandom usually makes polites look about the same, like ody looks so different & polites is like the same

Okay, but imagine if Athena and the ghost of Polites worked together to create a Therapy Saga. We've talked so much about needing one, so imagine if the most therapeutic character teamed up with the emotionally-detached goddess of wisdom to give Ody therapy. It'd be beautiful, healing chaos. As a goddess, Athena could go to the Underworld with Hades's permission and talk to Polites, informing him of the situation and collaborating with him on how to work out Ody's issues.

I love the detail that Odyseus keeps one of the Lotus fruits for later. This animatic is amazing, we greet it with open arms.

2:27, How did I never notice that one of the Lotus Eaters was foreshadowing doom? When they yell 'The Cave!', someone muttered 'scary cave' like they knew it was a cave guarded by a big scary cyclops.

2:45 AUGH GOD I adore the parallel of Odysseus is at a ledge when Polities is singing open arms and then later in Love in paradise he's again at a ledge with Calypso repeating his words to him !!!!(and also Odysseus hearing them !!)

OMG I love that in this version, the reason Odysseus has the lotus to help them escape the cyclops is because Polites gave it to him. Also the lotus eaters are so cute!
