Precision Amens for Modern Jungle with Ableton Sampler

Показать описание
This is my preferred method for creating laser cut precision Amens with the Ableton Sampler. There are many ways to create those ultra-tight staccato chops you hear in the likes of Sully's jungle, and even Squarepusher. Sampler is my weapon of choice for getting that modern jungle sound in Ableton, but you can achieve a similar effect with the Drum Rack device.

I also show you how you can use Follow Actions to generate more patterns quickly and some other cools things that you can do only in Sampler.

What's your favourite way to chop the Amen? How do you like to process them?

Mate, your break tutorials are by far the best on YouTube! As a total beginner I’ve already learned sooo much from binging your vids over the last month. Thank you for all that you do! Big up!

Peace and love,

Do you ever do pitch manipulation in the MPE Pitch Bend section? So, for example, you could pitch a snare roll on top of other unpitched samples.

Really learning a lot from your videos. Thank you for sharing your methods!

Thanks for starting to go over Sampler. For me, it is less understood but far more powerful than Simpler (which was of course designed to be simple). I love the Sustain Mode and the ability to set it to loop backwards when it reaches the end of a sample and set loop points for that.

Ive never tried to chop up breaks this way, damn! Only used it in conjunction with drum rack or via playback with an arpeggiator. This seems like a really nice approach. I dont know why but Sampler feels so daunting sometimes. Thanks for the detailed and concise tutorial !

already asked in your stream. But i coudn't figure it out.

I can't adjust the pitch like you in envelope. I just have to do it over "the mixer envelope" but then it's not accurate, it's just in numbers not in -st. When i try to do it over "the rack envelope" i can only adjust in % but only down, not up since it starts at 100%.

TIll now i always did it over mixer, but i would love to be able to do it more clean with st- measurements.

Sick! This requires Live Suite though right? Standard doesn’t have Sampler :(

Oh, wow 😳 - I’ve never seen someone’s slice direct to the Sampler, it’s always been to the Drum Racks.

Given that slicing to Sampler adds the functionality of being able to loop the tails of slices, why would anyone slice to Drum Rack?

What are the Pros and Cons of either approach?
