Ichiko Aoba is one of the most unique voices in modern Japanese music.
Her style is rooted in folk and minimalism, reminiscent of both traditional Japanese music and Western singer-songwriters.
Since her first steps into the world of music, Aoba has clung to her values of integrity and simplicity, prioritizing emotional authenticity over commercial success. She views music as a means of connection rather than escape. As she has stated in interviews before, she creates in a half-dreamy state, allowing her to capture the essence of her emotions without the constraints of reality—an approach that lends her music its signature ethereal, dreamlike quality.

I just discovered her two days ago and have been listening to her nonstop. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has tears running down their face when they listen to her. I love how her voice is so soothing and powerful at the same time, there is something very special about her and her music, it really hits on a different level. I am so glad I found her, what an incredible artist.

If I was there, there'd be a shot of me balling in this video. Can't help it. I've been listening to her for 5 years now and its literally impossible for me to listen to her without crying. Her music is the embodiment of the human soul in it's purest form as one with the natural world. She deserves to be listed in the dictionary under the word "ethereal". Ichiko is easily in the top 5 musicians alive today.
