Certified Bates Method Teacher, Nathan Oxenfeld, overviews the role that diet, nutrition, and supplementation play in your overall eye health. He overviews some foods to avoid or limit that are bad for your eye health, foods to eat more of that are good for your eye health, and explains some key vitamins, nutrients, and minerals found in food and supplements that are essential for all the parts of your eyes.

Over 25% of the nutrients you absorb from the foods you eat go directly to nourishing your visual system. What you eat influences how you see.

-Drink plenty of fresh clean (filtered) water. (3:44)
-Drink a glass of lemon water a day (4:41)

THE BAD STUFF
-Limit/avoid artificial flavors and colors (5:30)
-Limit/avoid processed, packaged foods (6:28)
-Read the nutrition facts and pay more attention to labels (7:01)
-Limit/avoid fast food and junk food (7:41)
-Limit/avoid sodas and sugary beverages (8:09)
-Limit/avoid sugar (8:40)
-Limit/avoid meat and dairy (10:30)
-Limit/avoid alcohol and caffeine (11:13)
-Limit/avoid genetically modified organisms (GMOs) (12:13)
-Buy organic produce and invest in your own health (13:22)

THE GOOD STUFF
-Bioflavonoids (citrus, berries, etc) (14:15)
-Carotenoids (orange colored foods) (14:44)
-Antioxidants (lutein, zeaxanthin, beta carotene) (15:10)
-Get vitamins, minerals, nutrients from foods more than pills (17:18)
-Drink green tea as an antioxidant (19:50)
-Plant Nutrients and Herbs (20:09)
-Trace Minerals and Metals (magnesium, selenium, zinc) (20:46)
-Vegetable and/or Animal Proteins (21:35)
-Lettered Vitamins (A, B complex, C, D, E, K) (22:17)
-Smoothies / Juices (23:34)
-Amino Acids (25:05)
-Essential Fatty Acids (omega 3 oils, dha, epa) (26:11)

WHAT TO EAT:
-Foods (dark leafy greens, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, grains, plant based oils) (29:50)
-Supplements (32:40 multivitamins, green powders, protein powders, adaptogens (33:44), medicinal mushrooms (35:04), herbal remedies (35:33), probiotics, trace minerals)
(Take plant based instead of fish oil supplements!) (26:33)
-Eat Multicolored Foods (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet) (28:46)

This channel is a new find for me. i was led to the Bates Method by my Healthy Aging group, and found you here giving very clear explanations. This talk on nutrition is also good, but I have to say that flax is very estrogenic, and those of us sensitive to estrogen will react to it with all the estrogen symptoms - hungry, tired and fat. Per gram, flax is even more estrogenic than soy. Fish oil is more bioavailable than the plant Omega-3's, but you're right to warn about bad fish oil - Keep it in the fridge. I eat much the way you explain and will add your eye exercises to my routine. Thank you!

I hate carrots and kale, but I eat a ton of the other foods and my eye sight has improved. Plant power!

Im plant based. No animals in my diet. I love melons they are amazing and packed with nutrients. For Omegas, I take Ahi flower and make hemp seed mylk. Based from my research and experience, these are the best sources of Omega 3. I would sometimes make almond mylk for the omega 6. Hemp mylk is my favorite. It has complete balance of the omegas. I grind flax seeds and store them in the freezer as they are the fastest to become stale.

Thanks, but some vegetables you are recommending, namely nightshades, are not safe to eat, as they have lots of lectin that damages gut. Please read Plant Paradox by dr. Gundry.

Great Video Thank You! It sounds like you follow a vegan/plant-based diet. I do too and love it. Not surprised to hear its the best diet in terms of eye health as well.
