Good point about how Latin has been treated like some science or puzzle instead of as the beautiful, living language it is. It is ignorant and foolish to say it is a "dead" language. Akkadian is a dead language. Proto-Italic is a dead language. The MINOAN LANGUAGE, Linear A, or any related Pelasgian tongue, is dead. Not Latin, or Ancient Greek, which lives on significantly in its demotic descendant. For a language to be dead, it has to be forgotten or studied only by a few individuals.

Not that it had a big impact on most people's day-to-day lives, but obviously another place where Latin continued to be used after 1850 was within the Catholic church.

Perhaps it would be useful to say that SHADOWING is a method invented by Alexander Arguelles - see his youtube presentation - one of the most widely known hyperpolyglots in the world. So your use of the term is slightly misleading for those who know Alexander.
Anyway, great thoughts here at Latinum - about interlinear and about listening while looking at target language to cover vocab fast.
