Dual Electronic Engine Control Lever IP68 (5): Handles

Показать описание
A detailed drawing, some POM round stock, a lathe, and some difficulties …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
After having shown you the drawing of the final product in the last video (link below), it’s finally time to say goodbye to the LEGO® Technic™ stuff and to machine some real parts. We’ll start off with something supposedly easy: The handles.
We will make those from POM round stock on my brand spanking new Proxxon PD 250/E lathe (link below). However, it turned (pun intended) out they required quite a number of operations, some of them really time consuming, to finish.
00:00 Intro – levers and handles out of aluminum and POM
00:39 Detailed drawing – of levers and handles
02:05 Chucked and dialed in (1) – one end the round stock
05:56 Faced and center drilled (1) – one end of round stock
07:36 Turned down (1) – majority of the round stock to diameter
22:41 Chucked and dialed in (2) – other end of the round stock
23:07 Faced and center drilled (2) – other end of the round stock
24:06 Turned down (2) – rest of the round stock to diameter
28:06 Drilled (1) – 6mm hole through most of the round stock
31:14 Parted off – one half of the round stock
33:12 Drilled (2) – 6mm through the rest of the round stock
34:20 Faced – one end of the first handle
35:10 Faced to length – other end of the first handle
41:33 Drilled (3) – started 12mm pocket in the first handle
45:11 Drilled (4) – finished 12mm pocket in the first handle
49:12 Result – first handle finished, looking good
50:42 Wrap-up – next time we’ll start with the handles, bye
