VIDEO INTRODUCTION: On July 31st 2015, the Indian government launched a large-scale road and highways project in India called the #Bharatmala. and when this annoucement was done, a super optimistic picture was painted about how the logistical challenge of India will be fixed, how the congestion in our highways will disappear and how the tier 2 tier 3 cities of India will grow rapidly because of great connectivity!!
and more importantly, in the logistics case study, we saw how logistics is paralysing our growth right?? This is the reason a project like bharatmala was and is still very very crucial for India!! But you know what guys?? You would be shocked to know that, This critical project which was to be completed in 2022 has been delayed for atleasty 6 years to 2028!! and because of this the cost of the project has shot up from Rs 5.35 lakh crore to Rs 10.63 lakh crore which is almost a 100% increase in cost!! You know much increase that is, the increase in cost itself is equivalent to 7 times the profit of #Reliance industries, 19 times the profit of tata industries and our entire defence #budget of 2022. And all this money is being by tax paying citizens like you and me!!!

Gadkari is literally the most efficient Minister, apart from Goyal and Jayshankar... what we have achieved is amazing.. and totally agreed that there is more work to be done here

The Highway Infrastructure in India has improved massively over the last 10 years. I am saying that as someone living and working in Bihar.

Another reason of delays is locals' approach. For example, Mumbai-Goa highway expansion has been delayed for years now due to local politicians/goons nuisance being one of the factors. Even Gadkariji had sent letter to then CM of MH Mr. Thackeray regarding that, which made a news, but no difference.

As a neutral analyst, I reckon you consider the COVID related setbacks! I don't think this entire analogy is politically motivated but we need all the data

As cost of project increased and timeline as well, Nitin Gadkari explained that even project plan also changed in interviews. Eg. from double lane to 4 lane and adding extra service lane etc..

Hey @ThinkSchool, you did not mention the reason for increase in project cost and delays. There was Covid and Ukraine war which impacted heavily. We need to consider these factors and then question the government

Projects worth 55, 000 crores have been stalled in Tamil Nadu due to sand mafia and corruption. The avg cost of sand is 233 rs per unit..but here it is 1100 rs per unit. As a result, most of the NHAI projects have become unviable and have stalled. TN admin is waiting for NHAI to transfer these projects to state govt…under the clause in NHAI provisions. Hence, they deliberately make projects unviable and don’t grant approvals. While the Bangalore bit of NH4 is done …work is stalled along the TN bit of NH4. Please dig further into this and make a small video ganesh❤😢

In Gujarat, a project started to make all the NHs 4 lanes. They started acquiring land around 2012-13 or 13-14, it's still going on. My own house and a piece of land was acquired (house demolished and land acquired) back in Diwali 2019. However, the workers & professionals helped us a lot in relocating. Anyway, due to COVID and all, the road is still in process. They are now building the other side of the road. The process seems to be on hold in monsoon seasons. Then, there's toll plaza literally just 200-300 metres away from my place. Then there are some issue regarding schools that are on the road. They have to build a small underpass wherever the schools are. We run a private school, and we talked with the professional about it, they'll build one. These lags or extra amount of work takes time to complete. Whereas, on Arabian sea belt, we've been hit by cyclones about 2-3 times in past 3 years, that have seem to hold the process too for about 2-3 months. I hope they utilize their time properly to implement a proper disciplined process.

Bro, factor in delays due to COVID. Factor in increase in costs and strain due to COVID. India had to fight corona virus by running social welfare. I think u really missed this part when there was very little toll collection for a year. And interests were mounting. Nobody accounted for pandemic in 2017 do they. Please include this too. Ganesh you make really great videos. It's a let down to see u miss such a crucial point here. Considering a revenue of 20000 crore a year from tolls. Think about how much we missed. And reason for delays can also be protracted to COVID. U can't go to people's homes to negotiate for land acquisition when there is a global pandemic. Can you? So please take this into account and correct the video.

The first major reform by GOI, back in 15 16, was reforms in land acquisition
The congress and opposition rallied the whole nation in opposition, labeled the laws as anti farmer, Lot of protest for 6 months, and at the end, government backed down took back the laws, just like farm laws which too, took country and and its economic progress by 10 to 15 years.
Public memory is short in deed...
Edit: I can understand why think school might have skipped this, as they didn't want to be involved in party politics and name-calling

What Nitin Gadkari has achieved is remarkable and I see that effort in my state and neighbouring ones when I drive on smooth highways, reach different cities at 1/3rd of the time...As tax payers, we definitely should ask the Qs, but also appreciate the work that has gone in!! ... we shld also be ready to understand the practical constraints that a project can hit during execution phase and work with them and support them to solve it!.... One of the unavoidable consequence of Pandemic and War, is Inflation... the way it has hit our life, it has hit the Govt too... A project can be taken forward when all the stakeholders are practical, supportive and solution oriented!... A land acquisition is also impacted by local politics! ... everything is NOT on the central govt always! there are numerous negotiations involved with Local Govt, and if they are from different party, expect the turnaround to increase dramatically! ...
BTW, The headlines of this story sounded that the whole highway scene in india was a mess. Thank god, thats not the case because I see otherwise around me... or when I saw Minister Jaishankar's pic in this thumbnail and wondered what was he doing in a highway story but realized, exactly nothing!

I belong to a very small town of north east. I never saw infra development in my entire life which is going on right now in my town. Through my backyard 4 lane 1km flyover NH is constructed. At right side of my house 2 lane state road is constructed and at left one rail road is in under construction . And my front road is newly renewed. My home now covered by roads from all 4 sides. That’s just funny😂

Good to see people actually understanding the work done by transport minister and don't blindly follow a video. Nitin Gadkari sir is one of the best minister so far. I wish we get leaders and ministers like him in future too..

Wish our oppositions could raise such valid points... But they are more interested in anti national activities to fill their own coffers
