What astonishes me in that first moment of the trailer is that Norma Jean is not even moving when she’s looking in the mirror. That really builds on the idea that she and Marilyn were separate entities. The girl she sees in the mirror is a much bigger character than herself to an extent that she is simply watching her and taking her in. She’s like the audience in this moment. Just mesmerized by her.

She is Norma Jean watching Marilyn

I have just finished watching this. It is disturbing but there is no other way to describe Marilyn's experience. I think the saddest part is, nobody was able to save her. Rest easy, Queen.

So happy that Ana de Armas gets the recognition she deserves

The film is poetic, evocative. Given that Monroe said that Marilyn was a creation, a fictional character invented by Norma Jean, I find Ana's slight Cuban accent incredibly appropriate! It takes the film into the meta universe; it's the ultimate Hollywood creation: the fiction that is Marilyn obviously played by an actress. Self-referential and brilliant all around! 👏👏👏

The movie made me very sad to see her tragic life. She was so sweet. My love and respct for her soul.

Reminder that this movie is based off of a NOVEL. A novel that wrongly depicted Marlilyn/Norma’s life. One that included 10 SEXUAL ASSAULT ACTIONS that NEVER happened. One that reduced a strong, head-steady, capable woman to a blubbering innocent sad girl. Marilyn was NEVER this way. She was a woman that was an advocate for so many forms of change.
She was a woman that stood up herself for change! She loved people so much, and here you are, years after her death, disrespecting her like she always hated. Netflix has a problem with depicting so many real life people (the Dahmer series) like their polar opposites. And it is DISGUSTING.

I was hoping they'd have a scene referencing the blue polkadot dress she wore in her backyard pictures with her husband. I'm hype to see it!

Lol not you guys making fun of her accent. Marilyn was known for her beauty. And that's what Ana portrays perfectly. I don't mind the accent at all. She's a great actress and the cinematography is on point. Can't wait!!!

I believed I was watching Marilyn Monroe not Ana the entire movie. What a brilliant actor!!!! She deserves are the praises and Oscar for her portrayal…

I didn't expect much from this movie (because it's produced by netflix, of all things) and I was totally right. So many things they blew out of proportion and completely made up. I think it was disrespectful to the real Marilyn Monroe

I think that Blonde is a film that fits into the category where the trailer is actually 10 times better than the full film. And it’s not for the reason that you might think. Contrary to popular belief Ana de Armas was not the problem, I think she did a beautiful job playing Marilyn Monroe. She was not the issue, I think the true issue is the writing and directing of the film as a whole. First of all, during the parts that I didn’t understand what was going on I was very creeped out and a little disgusted quite frankly and during the parts that I didn’t understand I was just lost. I think that it deserved a lot more direction and purpose as opposed to montages and surprises. Now there’s nothing wrong with feeling sexy or having a few nude sex scenes in the film but I did feel like the threesome between Charles Chaplin Junior and Edward G Robinson Junior was a bit much. And don’t even get me started on the part when she walks into JFK‘s bedroom and he insists that she gives him a blow job while he’s talking on the phone. I think that her status as a sex symbol is used and abused by this film. Of course, we see the difference between Marilyn Monroe and Norma Jean but ultimately across the screen we see a shadow of a girl who then turns into a woman who is then thrusted into a life of both privilege and fame and yet still remains hollow and unsatisfied. And what’s new in your mono drinks, or drugs or even sex could fill it. Not to mention the creepy CGI abortion/baby scenes, but then again this film was written and directed by a man so I guess that part made sense seeing that he’s not a woman himself and can’t attest to this kind of thing. I mean no disrespect to them of course I’m sure that they all did the best they could with the best that they were given but all in all I don’t think that this film did Marilyn Monroe‘s legacy any justice or at least not in the way that I think she would’ve put it.
