I like good writing and mystery, horror genres so this list has given me some new titles. I've read 5 and added Milkman just now. TY!

This is a great list of books. I think there are just two I haven't read -- the tiger book and the Chabon book though I have read other books by him.

Ooh Sing, Unburied, Sing and Milkman sound interesting! I love Beloved!! Trying to read all of Toni Morrison's catalogue, but I think that is my favorite so far.

An Excellent list. I've read a couple of them. Kavalier and Clay has been in my to- read pile for ages.

Just the right level for me if not a little challenging, thank you Olly; great work friend.

I just put The Killer Angels onto my wish list. Thanks for the recommendation.

I think it's great that you did a list like this, where you are recommending literary fiction to people who don't tend to read it. I haven't read any of these though! Most I haven't even heard of!

I’ve read Lonesome Dove (Recommended by a mutual book-tuber). Very long and very good. The Road-depressing but good. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay-I loved it! Bought a hardback later. I have a lot of Michael Chabon books here to read now.

Great video and a nice selection of books. The literary prizes go a long way toward thinning out a lot of the navel-gazing stuff that most people think of when someone says literary fiction. The Pulitzers are usually pretty commercial and the Booker short-list is usually wonderfully nutty.

I'm a fan of Louise Erdrich. Her last two novels -- the Pulitzer winner "The Night Watchman" and "The Sentence" -- are believable ghost stories. Where if you don't buy into the paranormal at all you can believe in the ghosts the characters encounter.

+1 for Lonesome Dove. I read that book 7 years ago I still think about it. It warrants a another read for me, I forgot most of it now.

“Beloved” has been in my TBR for 200 years… lol! I picked it up just after watching this video. And so far so good, so very good actually! Thanks Olly!

This was great fun. I have two listed sitting on my shelves waiting to be read. Going to try to read one in October. Nice list. 😊

My introduction to Chabon was through the 'The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist' comics he wrote for Dark Horse.

I really appreciate the video to get more ideas of literary fiction I may want to check out. Lonesome Dove is really good, or the first half that I have read so far. I liked Beloved as well. I have read The Underground Railroad and liked it and want to check out The Nickel Boys. I definitely will be checking out The Road and Sing Unburied Sing because I have those on my shelf waiting for me.

Ive read every one of these save _The White Tiger._ I liked them all, too, but Ive adored _Milkman_ and _Kavelier & Clay, _ especially.

I’ve read 7 out of 10. I haven’t read Milkman, The Nickleboys, or Sing Unburied Sing. The others were all good, except that I think The Road was one of McCarthy’s weak books, though it may have more popular appeal.

Milkman is among my favorite reads in the last 5 years. Just the paranoia in the narration and humor and absurdity (aka the cat head in a bag), brilliantly written. Sing Unburied Sing is fantastic, too. I find the language very accessible. I also can recommend Whitehead's first novel - The Intuitionist - which is his best work in my opinion!

Read quite a few of those and definitely given me some more to read. I’m kind of enjoying vintage thrillers/adventure novels at the moment though but must read some weightier tomes I feel.
