Vulgus (Arcade/1CC)

Показать описание
This right here is the first game ever made by Capcom, who would go to create such well known franchises as Mega Man, Monster Hunter, an Resident Evil. This game is a decently standard shmup from 1984. The goal is to shoot your way through the levels to destroy a meteor boss, known as Vulgus. If you can destroy this meteor and get back to Earth, the game will loop from there, basically meaning you win. This video is pretty special, as it's actually my first ever getting to the boss, let alone actually winning against it.
As you get farther, your start facing enemies with more dangerous movement patterns, forcing you on your toes. Alongside your standard shot, you can accumulate missiles, that will bash right through most enemies, and even kill bigger enemies in one shot. Missiles can be obtained by picking up the "POW" icons. The other pickups: the E, D, and S icons, are hard to tell what they do. Some say picking them up helps keep enemies weaker. Some say picking them up actually makes the enemies harder, but no one seems to be able to confirm anything, so I just pick them up anyway. The game transitions between Earth and space levels, with the space levels acting more like a bonus stage, with the exception of the boss in the last one. It's rudimentary, but not a bad first game from the company, who just a year later, would gain notorious attention with the release of Ghosts 'n Goblins.
