My dad passed away when I was only four, but I still remember him, and this song is so relevant to my situation. My dad was a hard worker and owned his own business - so am and so do I. He played the mandolin, and I play guitar, so I've picked up a lot from him. I had a wonderful dream about him a few years ago when I went back in time when he was still living and I was of the age I am now. I walked up to him, put my arms around him and kissed him on the cheek. He turned to me and said, "Denny, I'm sorry for all the years of your life that I missed." What a gift from God that was.

I lost my Dad five months ago and this song makes me think of him every time I play it.  It gets me from the very first words of, "I'm gonna wrap my arms around my daddy's neck and tell him I missed him" and the "tell him all about the (woman) I've became and hope that it pleased him."  I want more than anything to know that my dad is proud of the woman that I have grown to become today.  I feel him with me from time to time and he gently reminds me with special signs every now and then and that's how I know he is watching over my mom, brother, my daughter, my son and me. I miss him every day and am just blessed that I have such wonderful, loving memories of him.  It doesn't make it any easier to accept the fact that he's no longer in the physical world, but I know he's at peace.  This song makes it a little easier day to day.
