Kia Rio Door Latch Repair/ Installation - Door Locks FIXED 2012-2017

This is how to replace and install new door latches on any Kia Rio from 2012-2017. If your power door locks don't work, this is what you'll need to do to restore key-less entry. Removing the door panel on the kia rio is done by removing 3 screws and using a pry tool. There is 1 electrical clip that you'll remove. The latch is attached to the door with t30 torx bolts. the door handle has one more screw along with 2 metal chords which can be turned and removed. Replace any parts and re-install everything the same way.

Thank you! We found a new latch for $35 on Amazon. They were on eBay for same price. This video made it an easy 1 hour job to replace. It works perfectly! The only hard part was fitting the plastic piece coming out of the key lock that unlocks/locks the door. Took a few try’s but we got it!

I have a 2012 Rio (in the UK). My problem is that the fob unlocks all the doors ok, but the manual blade/metal key doesn't work. The key goes in the hole, it turns, but the door does not unlock. Any ideas?

we have a 2013 rio hatchback. the lock will not unlock on the passenger door using the fob but we can manually unlock from inside the car. Do you think it is the actuator and not the button? What is the likelihood this will happen with the other doors?

Gr8 info to DYI. I have a 2007 Kia Rio LX that appears to have a separate actuator. Very similar door layout. Not sure if my latch or the actuator is faulty (2 separate items in my car and actuator quite pricey). FAULT:- Front Drivers door wont unlock unless I turn key to left and lift outside handle (The key has no remote unlock/lock button). This action does not unlock other doors but other door work together with central locking action. The drivers door internal lock/unlock latch is jammed locked and seems to be a stuck cable, cannot open door from inside. When I put to key in the ignition I hear the drivers door actuator pulsing for a short time but nothing else occurs. Am I correct in saying only the latch is faulty as all mechanical cables go into it.

Thanks so much for this! Any chance you might have some insight on a related problem I'm having with my 2012 Rondo? The power lock on the front driver's side door still kind of works, but the key entry/lock doesn't, and the whole lock mechanism is malfunctioning. If the manual switch on the interior is in the "unlock" position to start, the power lock won't lock. The key also will not lock the door. Meanwhile, if the manual switch is in the "unlock" position, the power lock won't UNLOCK it (neither will the key!), so I have to manually unlock it from the inside. BUT, if the manual switch is positioned just right - sort of in the middle between lock and unlock - the power lock WILL unlock/lock the door (while the key still does nothing) except now the mechanism seems confused. Every time I open the door, it will lock and unlock several times in a row by itself, and randomly land on either lock or unlock. It will land on unlock even when the keys are in the ignition and even if the car is on - which it shouldn't be able to do. This has resulted in me getting locked out of my car with the car running when I've forgotten to hit the power unlock button on the fob twice to unlock the rest of the doors. Luckily I was at home and had access to a spare fob in the house, but that's scary. Any idea what's going on?

Hi, nice video very, but what if the door is permanently locked shut? Any suggestions on how to proceed? I see you disconnected the battery, does that disengage the central locking by any chance?
