We are currently experiencing a contractor nightmare. 1st time homeowners having to put in for an insurance claim and our contracter swooped in like he was the best. He did have great reviews- and a person we knew said he was decent, but loved taking insurance claim jobs…. 4 months later job is still not complete. Things are being installed horribly. Work we had done previously has got tremendously messed up.
Who knew his crew didn’t know the basics to caulking baseboards?!?
Because our adjuster did not come out to our home he stated he did all the work for my insurance companies adjuster and refused to give me a separate quote until we knew what the company will cover or not.
Communication was great untill we moved out of our home to actually get the remodeling done as quickly as possible with no distractions. No it’s like pulling teeth to speak to him. Our house sat for a whole month empty.
It’s been an utter nightmare. Had we known that the qoute he gave us and the work he did to get the qoute over to our insurance company didn’t lock us into utilizing him- we might not have used him. We would have paid him for the work he did up to that point and moved on. Unfortunately we are so far into the project )it’s 90% complete ) we would lose. We have had multiple people tell us at this point (after the fact) who has seen the work that it looks like maybe a $20, 000 job at most and he’s walking away with $41 grand 😢😢

I've used Thumbtack more than once and been pretty pleased. I never hire anyone who isn't responsive.
