-Jack's Cooler Recommendations (SEE BELOW)-

In this video, Jack is upgrading the cooler on his video editing rig. Jack's PC is outfitted with an AMD 3900X that was struggling to stay cool in the Floridian heat with his Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Cooler. This dire need for proficient cooling caused Jack to purchase the Noctua D15S cooler. In our previous video, Jack did an unboxing of the Noctua D15S. In this video, he shows reviews and shows how to install the Noctua D15S Cooler. Lastly, Jack does a performance comparison between the Noctua D15S and Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black used with his AMD 3900X. You don't want to miss out on these graphs!

Tailored to provide superior RAM and PCIe compatibility, the NH-D15S is an asymmetrical single fan version of Noctua’s renowned flagship model, the NH-D15. Thanks to its asymmetrical design, the NH-D15S clears the top PCIe slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards. At the same time, the single fan setup and recessed lower fins ensure 100% RAM compatibility with memory modules of up to 65mm height. Users who have sufficient room can also upgrade the cooler with either a 120mm or round 140mm fan on the front fin stack for further improved performance in dual fan mode. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-D15S forms a complete premium-quality solution that combines dual tower efficiency with excellent compatibility and flexible upgrade options.

Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15S provides 65mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks, making it compatible with most high-end modules on the market. As the lower fins are recessed on both sides of the heatsink, compatibility is excellent not only on LGA115x and AMD, but also on LGA2011 where there are RAM slots on both sides of the socket.

As many current motherboards have the top PCIe x16 slot sitting close to the socket, bigger heatsinks tend to block it. Due to its asymmetrical layout, the fin-stack of the NH-D15S is off-set towards the upper edge of the motherboard when installed in standard orientation. This allows it to clear the top PCIe x16 slot on most current µATX and ATX motherboard.

Using the supplied extra fan clips, the NH-D15S can be upgraded with either a second round-frame 140mm fan with 120mm mounting holes (such as the NF-A15) for maximum performance or a common 120mm fan (such as the NF-F12) for improving performance while maintaining compatibility with RAM modules of up to 45mm height.

Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety, and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 (LGA2011-0 & LGA2011-3), LGA2066 and AMD (AM4, AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15S ensures perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

-Notes From the Manufacturer-

- State-of-the-art dual-tower design with 6 heat pipes provides excellent cooling performance for overclocking or near-silent systems
- High-compatibility version of the award-winning NH-D15; asymmetric single fan design for best RAM- and PCIe-compatibility

Jack here! In the video I consistently say "Hyper 212 Evo". Please note that this is a MISTAKE and I'm actually referring to the "Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition". 🙂 I apologize for any confusion this may cause, but it's good proof that I am indeed a human 😉

Thanks for the video, I actually just finished my 5800x / 6900xt build. I have a 212 that I had already that I put on it and it’s not great., I considered using bread as a cpu cooler and then I could have toast as I play modern warfare. But then I decided I’d buy a d15s so I have that and a 120mm noctua fan on the way to install sometime next week👍 just watching videos now to confirm I made a good choice

I have the black 212 evo and just slapped a noctua black chromax fan on it instead of the original. It runs quieter and cooler. Job done.

I have a ryzen 3600 with a CM hyper 212 RGB Black, with 2 x cooler master sickle flow 120's for push pull (used the fan that came with the CM 212 on another build) my idle temps are 40 degrees, prime 95 small FFT's for about 3 hours reached around 65 degrees. I also downclocked to a 28 x multiplier so its locked at 2800 MHz, and undervolted to 1.1V and its stable. (before underclock/undervolt I was reaching 80 degrees)

Cooler Master TD500 Mesh with 3 stock fans front intake, 1 x top front CM sickleflow 120 intake) 2 x CM sickleflow 120mm exhaust (1 rear, 1 rear/top) so I have 6 case fans total

I was thinking about getting the Noctua in the video because the 2 fan version wont fit with the RAM I have, but now seeing its not much of a difference, I will just keep the Cooler Master, thanks for the video dude :)

do you reckon i should just stick the 212 black edition on my 3600? i want to run 4.2ghz.
right now i got the stock cooler on, at 4.0ghz 1.3v and that keeps the temps in check.

You should have tried a second fan on the 212 considering that the D15 has 2 140 MM fans.

Can you test the hyper 212 with an extra fan to see how it performs?

I have hella airflow in my case provided by 2 200mm cooler master fans. I plan on using a i5-11400 for the time being until it makes sense to upgrade cpu (obviously I can't buy a new graphics card at the moment). Would the 212 be a decent option for this usage until I upgrade my cpu or do you have a better recommendation? Also I'm liking and subscribing. Thanks in advance.
