During my college years in the 70s, it was my great pleasure and privilege to be part of the Bluegrass scene in northeast Missouri. I remember jamming one night up at the Vincents’ home, never realizing that I was sitting in the presence of future stardom. Those were wonderful, formative years and I cherish the memories to this day. I’m still picking today, still loving this amazing music, and thinking back to the great friends I made back then, all the shows and festivals we played, strolling around the Drakesville festival grounds with Rhonda’s dad. Kinda wish I’d stayed up there instead of moving back home to family and career. ;-)

Many years ago, I remember watching Rhonda Vincent and her Bluegrass band on TV playing around one mic. She was so energetic that she would bounce and step in place as she sang. When it came time for a fiddle, banjo or guitar lead brake, she would run around to the back side of the band still bouncing and stepping in place till she ran back around to the mic to sing. I still see that spunk in Rhonda's performances today. Only the steps and the bouncing are not quite as high, but that's alright when you're the Queen of Bluegrass!

Rhonda, I have loved you and your music since the first time I saw you at Fairfax High School. We won't say how long ago that was. While the rest of the Bluegrass world feigned and fawned over Allison Krauss, I always maintained that your pipes are better. Do you remember Winchester, VA. apple blossom festival? My dad asked your banjo player if "when he went to Wal-Mart, if he laid his banjo on the dash, if he could park in the handicapped zone?" You blew soda out your nose. A fan till I die. Thanks.
