Arctic and Alpine Tundra

Показать описание
The Tundra is a cold, icy, treeless region of the world. I this video, I cover two types of tundra. The Arctic and the Alpine Tundra.
TheThe arctic tundra is found in North America, Asia, and Europe and circles the arctic ocean and stretches southward down to the taiga.
The tundra is cold and during the winter the
Temperatures can drop to minus 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit
In the short summer temperatures may rise to 50-60 degrees which allows the tundra to sustain life.
The frozen soil of the tundra is called permafrost is has a frozen top layer almost all year.
Plants in the tundra have a short growing season and are small, short plants.
Some animals found at the tundra include polar bears, lemmings, the Arctic fox penguin, and geese.
Plants in this biome are usually small and low to the earth.
The Alpine tundra is found high in the mountains. Because of the high elevation, the temperature becomes cold and trees do not grow. In North America this occurs above 1,000 feet, but as you get closer to the poles this elevation drops.
Thank you for checking out my video. If you need to learn more about biomes this article may help.
