No, you have to make the thread bigger on the 1z engine for the mounting. You also have to relocate the dipstick and you need to replace the sump and oil pick up with the originals from the abl.

Yes, you need the cluster from the donor car. Also you need to change the speedometer sensor in the transmission.

ahu engine goes in, but need to modify a couple of thing. All mods are simple. The engine mount comes from the original engine, only need to make a couple of thread bigger size but same location.

Yes Andy, I kept the original gearbox. The golf gearbox wouldn't fit.

I bought a 1.9tdi golf, which has the 1Z engine. I guess I just make thread bigger size on ABL engine mounts??

Thanks. I plan to fit an intercooler underneath the bumper and use most of the donor car's plastic pipes. Have you got intercooler installed?

i no its awhile ago, , but did you get much more power was it worth doing, others on here says the abl, is the best for a t4, , ps ya still got the van, ?

Thanks mate. I'll be starting my conversion in a couple of weeks. Last question :-) I presume I need to take the clocks out of my donor vw and put them into the T4?

Hi mate.
Good job, I've just swapped engine out in my T4 from TD (ABL) to TDi (AFN), is a big difference now.
Are you going to fit the intercooler some day as well ?
