HOME PIZZA OVEN PUT TO THE TEST BY CHEFS | Sorted Food

You guys asked us to test this PROPERLY after seeing it in a 'Chefs Review Kitchen Gadgets video' - we don't think we could have tested it any more than this! We used fresh pizza dough to make a more authentic pizza and the results speak for themselves! But are you gonna buy this gadge solely for pizza? We thought we'd test out a couple more things too...

Wow, talk about listening to your comments. I even saw mine posted in the video! Thanks for retesting the pizza oven, or should I say testing the hell out of it, this was really thorough.

Former/retired chef here, and I'm absolutely stunned by a couple of these experiments and how well they turned out. Some were (obviously) no surprise. The pizza, the mushrooms, definitely the scallops (I was cringing the whole time you were cooking those) all seemed to go exactly as I expected...but the sea bass totally blew me away. I've cooked hundreds, possibly thousands of those over the years, and I simply cannot believe you got the results you got in just 6 or 7 minutes...I mean...I can see them with my own eyes, but my inner chef is in total denial. :)

I'm definitely going to have to give this little oven a go at home. Being able to knock together stuffed mushrooms (my better half's favorite thing to snack on) in under ten minutes from fridge to plate is astonishing. Those peaches looked divine, and I wouldn't have to play the 'watch the broiler carefully or you'll catch the oven on fire' game. Roasted fresh veg in just a few minutes (fresh, 'chip cut' carrot, parsnip, or other root veggies would be heavenly...probably only take about 3-4 minutes as well), and...dammit...I still cant get over that sea bass. :)

Big thanks to all of you guys for this review/video. When you've worked 'in the trenches' for as long as I had, sometimes you get pretty jaded and it's hard to find inspiration to try new things. This video/this product definitely rekindled my desire to try something new. :)

As someone whose family is actually from Padrón, first of all I love that you seem to use Padron peppers a lot and like it, it makes me feel proud in a weird but cool way (it's a little town with less than 9000 people living there, so it's not like we are well known overseas). Just a little tip, tho: even when in almost all Spain everybody tend to make them with his tail to grab them better and make them easier to eat, the truth is that they're way better without that and we usually take them off with the tip of a knife. That little tail it's still part of the plant, so it gives a little bit of a nasty flavor (not much, but still) when cooked at the same time, and it keeps the pepper to be well cooked inside, leaving some seeds. Best way to make them, at least traditionally, is to take off the tail, put them in hot oil and reduce the heat when throwed inside the pan to prevent then to burn fast. Anyway, keep the good work, guys :)

James and Ben are a great combination! The level of experience and skill is matched so they don't have to talk down to each other. And both are so loveable
🙌❤

I feel like that is the best compliment you can get Ben. "I would never think of *insert ingredients*." In this case the sundried tomatoes and pesto on prawns.

They seem annoyingly in love, like they found their new favorite toy but don't want to admit it 😂

Watching these two chefs playing with a new toy brings so much joy to me.

In Italy that little oven is very popular and many people even make some mods to it to make it even more powerful (you can find many on youtube). Btw, do you think it could be used to make tandoori chicken? Seeing that the real cooking method for that dish requires very high temps that you only get from a tandoor oven?

I think this video genuinely added value to the home pizza oven. It was designed "only" to cook pizza but this video showed how much potential utility it has.

I can absolutely see this thing being targeted to college kids who live in on-campus dorms with not enough room for a full blown oven. I'm so glad that you guys managed to do legitimate food experiments like these. Now I can spice up my on-campus experience with some actual cooked food!

Was kinda expecting for a burger test though, dissapointed that you guys didn't do it but hey, great video nonetheless.

Remember the time when James is just the behind the scene guy, now he's part of the stars! <3

‪We all know it because of that Queer Eye episode last night 😂😉‬

You can really tell James is becoming more comfortable in front of the camera and I am INTO it.

As an Italian guy myself I'm stunned by how legit that pizza looked (a true classic, not even the thin crust "modern original" one made in most Italian pizzerias), and it roasted everything else beautifully as well!

My mother actually bought this pizza oven when she opened her café in 2014 to make pizza's fast to order. It's been in our house for the last couple of weeks because I'm addicted to it. Absolutely love this oven!!!

James and Queer Eye shoutouts? Legend.

I really like the idea of it being so small; with that little space being heated it'll inherently be significantly more efficient than a full-size oven. For smaller stuff (like everything you demonstrated) it makes a lot more sense.
