Sacramento church holds indoor services despite county’s ‘widespread’ COVID tier

California’s COVID cases continue to rise with the state recoding 9,500 more people infected Saturday – and a total of 18,262 deaths since the pandemic first began – according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. And on Sunday, there were plenty of people flocking to New Season church in South Sacramento – where religious services were held indoors – even though Sacramento County is now in the purple tier. That means worship services must be held outdoors only – with 100 people or 25 percent of capacity, whichever is less. But those restrictions didn’t stop lead Pastor Samuel Rodriguez from allowing worship today inside his church. Get the full story in the video above.

First amendment right to freedom of religion and freedom to assemble. If you can assemble to protest, you should be able to assemble to worship. If Newsom can go to French Laundry for dinner, then people can go to church. “Rules for thee but not for me.”
