People don't need to lose their gameplay just because a new game comes out. You could always play both. Sounds like a copout from EA because it's much cheaper to release patches and DLC than it is to build a new game from the ground up.

I’ll be honest with as many bugs and issues with Sims 4 as there is and has been. I would be terrified if they made a Sims 5. I don’t think that they have the capability or the manpower when they can’t even fix the simple bugs in Sims 4. I love my sims 4 do updates fixes the bugs expand some worlds. I think it’s a smart move for them to make that choice. They may know they wouldn’t be able to top the success of sims 4

I hadn't bought anything Sims 4 in expectation of Sims 5 would be released. (With context that Sims 2 and 3 are in my top ten favorite video games of all time and I'm an infrequent video game player).

I think they want to fix it as much as they can before moving on. I've been feeling like the more modern a game looks, the less fun it is. Sims 2 and 3 are nostalgic at this point. It was our childhood, afterall. I think they should actually reach back to what people really liked instead of doing something new.
