Can Women Teach in the Church?

Some egalitarian scholars argue that Acts 18:26 demonstrates that women can be pastors. They claim that since Priscilla, along with Aquila, explained the way of God more clearly to Apollos that therefore, females should be allowed to be elders and overseers at local churches. In this video, I provide Dr. Wayne Grudem's refutation of this false assertion.

Phil Johnson - "Should I stay in a church that has a woman as a pastor?"

John MacArthur - "Then that church has no pastor"

Thank you Brother Allen for the clarification ❤️ I am a woman and feel the urge to evangelize but to be careful not to cross into pastorship.

great job brother, not teach over men but to teach over other women and children it doesn't make them inferior just in order with Gods plan..God has an order and we must follow His order God bless you brothers and sisters 💚

We should also differentiate between a woman ‘leading’ and ‘teaching’. Two very different things.

Allan thanks for your work. Some women in our church are starting a bible study by Susan Heck and she’s such a gifted teacher. She teaches the meat of the actual scripture not the fluffy victorious Christian life I used to get from my old church with Beth Moores numerous bad studies. We’re actually going thru 1John and not through someone’s book they wrote. I learned to hate women’s studies, they were so shallow and patronizing. Susan is reformed and gets it. Peace🙏

They will always find an exception of why they are permitted instead of why they are subject to the word....

My last church pastor bullied us out because we didn't believe women could have authority over men.

Thank you for making this truth clear using Scripture, Allan. This subject...the subject of the appropriateness of a woman speaking privately to a man about Christ, has come up a number of times in the ladies prayer circle. Now I know how to approach it.

1 Tim 3:2 says 'husband of one wife' when describing a pastor. I think that's a good verse as well to point to men-only Pastoral figures.

Thank you for a very thorough scholarly explanation, respecting context.

Teaching children and other women, sure. Teaching men, no.

Some people think that words have only one definition.

I stand corrected: women can teach publicly or otherwise

Possible to differentiate between teaching (didasko) and preaching (kerysso)?

No office of resident leadership concerning an ENTIRE LOCAL church, where presbyters are responsible for dogmatics and the ENFORCEMENT.

But writing books about dogmatics, discuss dogmatic questions in the Internet, leading a non-local ministry, being invited as a non-resident speaker, giving a testimonial in sunday service and preaching the gospel without teaching (respecting the authority of the local presbyters) - what can Followers of Christ think of?

Another example of what can be inferred trumping what has been explicitly taught. Great exegesis, Allen. (And they have to try so hard to get the scriptures to say what they want them to say...!)

1 Timothy 2v 12 and Titus 1v 6 to 9 make clear on whether or not women can be elders in the church.

I agree with your main point and was tracking with you until you referred to 1 Cor. 14 as the saints gathered together for public worship. No where does it state they were gathered for public worship. This is a modern day phrase injected into the NT, but you won't find it in the NT.

IDK, even the KJV says that Priscilla (a woman) and Aquila run a "church", in their home. See Romans 16:3-5 & 1 Corinthians 16:19. And, even 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 says a similar thing that 1 Timothy 2:11-12 does. Yet, the KJV of 1 Corinthians 16:19, practically AFTER the whole 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 debacle, says that Priscilla and her husband Aquila run their own "church", in their home. And, they're still be commended for it in 2 Timothy in 4:19, AFTER this whole 1 Timothy 2:11-12 thing...

This is only an issue because people reject Jesus’ plain teachings. He taught us to call no one our teacher in Matthew 23:8 but we work really hard to ignore this
