A lot of online resources point to jazz music or classical when you Google it etc, but constant structure progressions have a very specific feel to them and are used in other genres quite a lot.

Eg, they're used a lot in acid jazz, house music, and some gazey sorta stuff like Sweet Trip and Stereolab.
