In an age of pessimism this song still inspires hope in me. I hope we are remembered through our myths, imparting our strongest values through icons like this.

I am a Japanese.
In 1979, when I was a junior high school student, I saw this movie at a movie theater in my country hometown.
And from the bottom of my heart, I was numbed by this heroic and moving opening music.
I think it's one of the best musics in movie history.
Even now, when I listen to this music, I am moved to tears.

Christopher Reeve didn’t portray Superman, HE WAS SUPERMAN! He was a hero to so many people in real life. He made Superman the iconic figure it is today and he will always be remembered as the man who could fly. Fly high Christopher Reeve, forever the definitive Superman! ❤️💙

Never in history there’s been an actor whose performance was so perfect, that he forever became the blueprint of a character like Christopher Reeve did.
Comics, movies, series, they draw Superman’s features and cast new actors with Christopher Reeve as their model.
That’s how powerful and meaningful his performance is, that’s why he will live forever, that’s why HE IS SUPERMAN and always will be.

My favorite John Williams composition of all time. And not just the theme, but the overture that leads up to it.

This music played on a local radio station when Reeves died, I remember tearing up driving down the road listening to it. He will always be the greatest Superman actor ever.

If this music doesn't push you into being a better person, your heart is not in the right place.

Can you imagine hearing this for the first time in a theater in 1978? Just a year after getting to hear the Star Wars theme! Oh, that must have been amazing.

I turned 50 years old two days ago. I remember watching this with my dad and my brother the day it was released in 1978. I was 7 years old. I was 6 years old when Star Wars was released, 7 years old when Superman was released, 8 years old when The Empire Strikes Back was released, and 9 years old when Raiders of the Lost Ark was released. I consider myself to be pretty lucky.
