You don't need an 8 string to hit higher notes, the last 6 strings are standard 6 string tuning with the extra low B for the 7th string and f# for the low 8

Fucking nailed it dude! I'd like to think I'm a pretty decent player but I'm having some issues with my Schecter C7 playing on the lower frets like the 1st-4th with my hand wanting to cramp up or getting sore actually and I never had those issues on a six string I can play at near my full speed for several hours just fine it seems like.. Did you have any problem adjusting to the longer scale length?? I've had my 7 string for close to a year now and I've barely adjusted to it..

How did you manage to play in Drop E without having spaghetti strings? You nailed the cover, but I still have no idea how you pulled off the tuning. What string gauge did you use?
