The factors driving up Trans Mountain pipeline costs: “This project has been seriously mismanaged”

Construction of the Trans Mountain pipeline is almost complete, but the expansion project is burning through hundreds of millions of dollars in unexpected costs.

It was originally sold as a sound investment to Canadians, but the bill has swelled to more than five times the original budget.

Heather Yourex-West explains why it's now costing far more than what the government can expect to sell it for.

Ask how many welds are rejected and have to be redone. Not enough high pressure welders available, Pre Planning was non existing, Contractors, are not coordinated on the same page. And where is Cost control, and the Contracts Department.
It’s a Free for all, and the Taxpayers are footing the bill.

Thanks to the liberal government and all their regulations made this pipeline cost what it does.

There is no doubt that a forenzic cost analysis is needed on this failed project. Seeing as it is run by the Liberals in Ottawa you can count on there being serious irregularities. All those found guilty- long prison sentences.

Yah, we know all about the cost Global. We also know that there were a significant number of curious issues when it came to their construction practices.
Things like eight trenchless crossings in 7 km's but no mention of this to the CER. Dewatering for months in a drought till wells ran dry but no permit for water use from what we can tell.
Then there are the Conditions 59, 60 for Cheam Apple Road used to approve Ohamil man camp. Despite repeated requests for these documents they have never been provided. Even the district that Cheam 'Apple' Road is apparently located in has no knowledge of these Conditions either. There isn't even an Apple Road. 🤦‍♀️
So yes, we are quite aware of the fascinating and scintillating trans mountain expansion project. Canada may wish to consider a new line of work after this. 😩

Shows the weakness of this country in full display here unable and incapable of getting things done properly on time and on budget. Not just a metrolynx Toronto problem but over out in the West too. The idea is that it's build cost is recouped by economic gains ROI as soon as possible within a few years, that now looks decades away. Unless it sells to CNOOC where it can be sold above asking price at the expense of our souls.
Glad it's done but disappointed in the execution. Being a PM in Canada is over rated where mismanagement is the resume padder

Haha. I worked on the trans mountain for 3 years. Never in my life have I seen a waste of money, All cost plus. The government inspectors just wanted to retire on this job. Every Saturday of at noon for 12s. Haha. And with the newcomers the government made them hire that have never seen a pipeline just a waste of money and time. Haha.

It's cool path i think they should build gondolas running on top for entertaining Vacationing wonderful moments like joy joy joy and people will pay to have fun and add a bike paths like on top and sides like a bridged super levels of and have bike paths slow to fast lanes and some site seeing aptip suspended like on sides and boutiques and restaurants call it WONDERJOY PATH one of its kind in the whole wide world :) that would be fun everyone would come from around the world and you can charge for rides and all like greatest profit margin like $Trillions of $Dollar's would come in and lots and lots of job creations would mix in :) If you build it they will come. what everyone things it's a greatest idea. Funnest idea just imagine the joys on people's faces. In Beautiful Canada.

TMX should not have occurred with significant Federal funding that would have compensated for it's damages. Yo, JT, where's my Housing, Infra and Transit money?
