Ooooo, Haidilao (海底撈).
We also have restaurants in Hong Kong, even I have never tried it once, but did tried its instant box version that sometimes bought from small stores. Just place a container of Haidilao hot pot food into a bigger sized container, underneath is a warm bag, then put warm water and close the lid, wait for 15 minutes and serve. It tastes spicy, sweet and delicate.

Amy! I’ve shared your channel with so many of my friends in China! I shared your bilibili and 微博 they all love you so much as well! You are the reason I am so interested in China! Can I tell you something! My first day at university I was speaking to a girl, I noticed her accent and I said “你是中国人吗” and she was very surprised and said ”对呀我是中国人、你也是吗” then we had an amazing conversation, we added wechat and now she is my best friend and we plan on going to China together as well! And I also became friends with all the other Chinese international students🤣 they were surprised when they heard I can also speak Chinese, my Chinese is not good but speaking to natives has really improved my Chinese! In fact after our exams one of the 中国男 said if my friend gets 100% in her exam, he will take us all to eat 海底捞哈哈哈哈 so excited!!!

A bit of cultural background: most people in China don’t make reservations for dinner, they just show up at the restaurant and wait (if it’s a causal gathering, not for special occasions). That’s why there is usually a long wait around dinner and many restaurants provide snacks and entertainment for waiting customers.

Went to a Haidilao in Shenzhen 3 or 4 years back and was entertained by a bian lian face changing show while we waited. Though we went with a Chinese couple, our waiter/host spoke very good English and was very helpful. A good experience
