Im from Argentinian parents and love mate, tea, and coffee. It all depends on my mood in the day. Sometumes ill drink all 3 in the day. Going out about the city with my thermos and yerba and people looking and even asking. I then explain and pass on the knowledge to everyone i know, even church friends and my children's friends. A lot of people marvel at it and get excited to try it themselves.
I also show them that they can start first trying it in yerbiado and then progress to the "mate" (gourd, cup) and bombilla (metal straw). Yerbiado is easier to drink for little children and it's more coninient and cheaper than with the actual mate.
Yerbiado is what they give to little kids in school for a snack (merienda).
Yerbiado can ve made at home by adding 3 tbls. of yerba to a coffee filter or if you dont have a percolator, you can use a coffee strainer, or even just throw 1 tbls of yerba into your cup with hot water, seep, and use a colander to strain to another cup, put sugar and drink just like that or add a touch of real cow milk or half and half. With the milk, you can't use flavored milk if you want to actually taste the yerba.
In Brooklyn, in the 60's, my newly arrived Mom went into a supermarket and asked a young kid, "do you know where the yerba is" and she said his eyes grew so big 😂 and just left her standing there. Now yerba is everywhere 😊🎉

The first time I heard of Yerba mate was watching Mozart of the Jungle on Amazon Prime. Starting drinking it on and off since then but really hit it hard after Messi made it public.

I’m Latino from the US but I didn’t feel comfortable taking my mate out in public until Messi did. Since then, I’ve taken mate with me on all my work trips including Poland and Morocco. The Yerba game in Poland is no joke though. Thanks for your channel.

I've never understood the hate on tea and coffee from yerba drinkers. I enjoy all three and find that each are unique enough for me enjoy. I think the issue is people want one drink to get them going every single day, when in all reality these drinks are best enjoyed as a treat, like a dessert. Relying on them to wake you up every single day for the rest of your life is just unreasonable. The effects will eventually be dulled by tolerance. But if you drink them for taste or the ritual involved, you'll get just as much enjoyment as the caffeine effect.

First time I ever had Yerba Matte was at Tea Lounge in Park Slope, Brooklyn back in 2003 (Closed in 2013). I haven't had it in years but its nice to see its getting a comeback
