Progressives are openly cheering the murder of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. However, it was progressive legislation that created this healthcare crisis in the first place.

So, let me get this straight, government involvement in the free market caused a disaster. Who'da thunk?

This is one of the best explanations I have heard on WHY the healthcare industry is in a shambles.

Get government OUT of regulating healthcare entirely.

Progressivism is a religion, and like all religions it has zealots that will do anything in support of the faith.

Lots of people mistakenly think that U.S. healthcare is largely unregulated, when it's quite the opposite. WHY do they think this? Progressives in America have succeeded wildly with their desired government regulation, but don't realize that the problems they now complain about were caused by their own success in government regulation.

I don't think they're trying to deny their involvement in the problems, but rather they truly don't see the connection between the regulation and the prices. They keep claiming that a lack of regulation causes various problems in society, not just in health care, but for example, in the financial crisis of 2007-08.

That still doesn't explain *why* they think this, though. The only thing that could affect so many people and makes sense to me is Stockholm Syndrome. The coercive power of government is largely inescapable in modern society, thanks in no small part to the Progressive agenda. And purely out of instinctive survival measures, many people turn to loving and defending their captors, the government. This seems to me why so many people blame private companies and markets for our problems instead of government and government intervention. It's always evil corporations bribing and corrupting government officials, never a recognition that government officials are complicit in or responsible for their own corruption. The progressives are simply dealing with increasing statism in the only way their brains know how to.

Glad you pointed out the medical licensing that was enforced, that was the camel's nose that started this whole problem.

This is the same direction Germany is heading. Mandatory health care insurance gets more and more expensive (you are just allowed to choose from a handful of insurance companies) and the quality of the health service and treatments is going down rapidly. Today you even have problems to find doctors to treat you and remember everyone must be insured.

I wish we never came to this point where thousands and probably millions of people, perhaps family members, senselessly died and just because some people wanted power

Government has no business regulating healthcare or any other aspects of the economy.

Thank you, I deeply appreciate your insights on this particular matter. These long-standing problems boiling over like this are very distressing.

Woe unto anyone who ignores the obvious negative gov intervention in virtually everything gov involves itself in. Id say that matches the legal definition of an "idiot" 😂

Take it from someone who worked in statistics at an insurance company. The company brings in 100 dollars of premium, and then there is a percentage determined for each plan. Right now its 80% of every 100 dollars that come in the door in premiums, goes right back out thhe door for costs. the other 20% is the trick. What health insurance companies do is negotiate loopholes, create in network hospitals and doctors, and they are one of the reasons we don't just graduate more doctors. Because the insurance companies have a specific range, and they want that 20% to grow at 5% a year, regardless of whether anyone can afford it. So your premiums grow every year 5-10 percent because overall the company wants to grow their piece 5-10 percent. So the insurance company sometimes is negotiating prices down, but if they havent paid out 80% of premiums, what are they doing? The insurance company needs payables to go up in order to justify raising rates next year. So for the remainder of the time they will not negotiate prices at all, and the hospital figures it out, and they send higher and higher bills for the same procedure. That is why everyone is in the corrupted healthcare system. You think getting a shot in a hospital is one simple procedure, but the healthcare system sends a different bill based on your zip code, your insurer, if you don't have insurance they send you a super high bill to scare you into buying insurance, like this system is dirty AF.

We don't have health care, just a medical industrial complex. Americans pay more because we are obese, hooked on drugs, anxious and depressed, and we spend too much on sickly fetus and elderly who likely won't get better, just live longer (and they'll claim "saved life" when it was just a short extension costing huge sums and taking up resources that healthier people suffering bad health luck could use. Health care would mean we are healthier, not getting more medical services which suggests more medical ill health.

Luigi's family is richer than the CEO. I think his family was involved with building hospitals possibly even owning some. I'm not sure about that. The killing had nothing to do with sn idealogical health care position.

This. Thank you. I knew this was roughly the case, but I highly appreciate a knowledgeable expert explaining this clearly. Will share

The government. It's fascism. HMOs are some of the biggest donors to politicians...so they have the best protection out there...ie...the government guns.
