Hendrix Improv Lesson - Izabella

The point of this video is to show that you don't have to copy anyone note for note. Just get the basics down and then practice on letting yourself flow through the song. That way it still stays fresh and lively and you can play around and do your own thing. One thing to remember is that Hendrix almost always played the E string bass notes with his thumb so that is how he plays the bass lines while playing the upper chords.

Great tip!! I am not good enough nor do I have the patience to copy Hendrix note for note, but my enjoyment is getting in the groove and jamming in the style of the great man. Man - I got rid of my M68 Univibe because I just can't get that raspy, growling high-mids that you are snarling out of your gear. Not as though my '64 Super or Princeton can get that tone, but I can't get that growl you are getting. What am I missing? Great jam as usual, mils.

Dear sir I played this dong like this too for a long time but to my ears those 3 4 5 notes from the beginning should not be played on the D string but on the A. 10 11 12 frets on the A. Please let me know if I am wrong or not. Thank you !!
