I discovered Larry yesterday and I already love him!

Transcription:
T'was the night before Christmas,
when all through the house, a creature was stirring in search of a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.

And then in a twinkling, a glimmer I saw,
the prancing and pattering of each little paw.

As I drew my head and was turning around, through the door the cat came in with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, his paw prints marking the carpet with soot.

A bundle of treats he had hidden away, to keep him warm through a cold winter’s day.

He was sprightly and proud, a ripe jolly mog, and I smiled when I saw him, in spite of the fog.

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to work, and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk, and laying his paw aside of his nose, and giving a nod, the black door closed.

And so here it is, another year gone by. Oh Larry, I said, how time does fly.

Then he whispered to me, dashing out of sight, Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Larry deserves a life-size statue on the window sill next to the door of Number 10 Downing Street. Tessa Campbell Fraser, who sculpted two of the Queen’s dogs, Candy & Vulcan, and the Queen’s horse, Estimate, would do a great job. She is so talented, and her work is so expressive. I think her sculpture of Larry would always make humans smile — just like the real Larry.
