George Jones - 80th Birthday - Interview

Country music legend George Jones celebrated his 80th birthday with a bash at Rippy's Bar & Grill in Music City and Yallwire was there. Host Stephanie Langston caught up with George to talk about his secret, as he continues to tour in promotion of his album "A Collection of My Best Recollection." Travis Tritt, The Kentucky Headhunters and Billy Joe Shaver were just a few of his celebrity friends who joined in the festivities, which of course included a possum birthday cake. The party continued over at the Grand Ole Opry, with special performances by Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Lee Ann Womack and The Oak Ridge Boys.

That just made me so happy! I took my grandmother to see him in concert years back. I loved seeing that young girl's dream come true. She will be 80 this October. :-)

I got to tour the Grand Ole Oprea and accualy go on stage and stand where they were in the video. Good to know I stood where the guy i grew up with for 13 years. I'll miss him.

His more recent concerts may have shown a much more vulnerable possum, but that spirit he had seemed to have electrified his fans! RIP George Jones. May the Grand Tour performance still take place in November.
