You are mistaken if you think the mummies heads were ever bound. There is so much more volume to those skulls than a homo sapiens sapien. The last skull was entirely different from the other three.

They bind their heads in worship to the giant "alien" humans. You can notice how the volume of the average skull is squeezed with the last skull but look back at the first three... Heads are massive in comparison to the last and in comoarison to all of ours. Literally giant.
